Last Friday Santa Barbara’s Cydeways dropped their newest single “Dream”, following their recently released music video for “Shadows” (directed by Dane Hodgson) last fall. “Dream” is much more bubbly and reggae-ish than “Shadows”, but if you remember my last interview with lead vox and guitar, Dustin Parks, you already knew that. It’s a breakup song and the bittersweet lyrics sting a little, but, then again… what’s a good love song without some tears?

Dustin’s raspy voice is all but made for the downtempo-esque vibe of “Dream”, yet is also somehow miraculously suited for acoustic Blink-182 covers. On Monday Dustin & Jeremy dropped their stripped-down version of “Mutt” from Enema of the State and eleven year old me screamed internally for the resurrection of late-nineties alt. Be on the lookout for a “Dream” music video coming in February and tell me what you think about the songs!
